This weekend I got to head to one of my favourite haunts, Oxford Art Factory, to check out the Bamboos and take a few snaps. The place was absolutely packed to the rafters and the crowd was waiting to get their dancing shoes on.

When the band finally hit the stage, they looked amazingly dapper and immediately hit their groove.

The only bad part of the night was that I couldn’t move around much this time as it was a particularly packed house. I’m thinking it’s time to get myself a new lens to increase my arsenal so I’m not just relying on my nifty fifty in low light. I keep cursing the fact that I don’t have a wider focal length to work with my cropped sensor.

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding a good value, fast lens that would be relatively wide on a Canon 400D and suitable for concert photography?

I was lucky enough to shoot Ratatat this weekend and was blown away by their amazing show.

Unlike last year when I shot them at the Essential Festival, I came prepared with a flash in case of a repeat mediocre lighting show, but fortunately there was some cool strobe stuff happening and a much more entertaining projector show than last time around.

Everyone went absolutely nuts when Ratatat performed Wildcat, myself included. Awesome awesome awesome show!

The Nextmen

06May09

The UK hip-hop duo played a lively and (almost) hip thrust-inducing set at Manning Bar, playing crowd pleasers by the likes of Jay-Z and the Verve and mashing them up entertainingly. Made me think of the Kleptones with more 90s one hit wonders and old school beats.

Good times!

Manly Beach

17Apr09

I neglected my lensbaby and missed the beach terribly over the summer so here’s to a return to both (although I have a feeling trips to the beach will probably not happen often enough…weather stay warm for a little longer please…)
