I’ve always wanted to shoot polaroid, but the cost of film is just too much for a starving student like me. This is a fun and quite convincing alternative :)

Ten days until exams are over and the summer begins! Can’t wait.

And the images are available for non-commercial use too!

What happened?

If you are into photography then please check out this amazing website and really cool blog.

I think it’s based in Europe, but I’m not really sure. Either way it doesn’t really matter because it’s an amazing resource filled with a wealth of beautiful photography and insightful commentary. I really liked this project - the title itself (A Husband in Paris) already means it’s a winner.

For someone like me who is essentially art-dumb, it’s a great place to discover beautiful photos and marvel over really really talented people.

Rye Rye played the late show at Oxford Art Factory over the weekend. She has been touted as the next big thing, being one of the first artists signed to M.I.A.’s label as well as working with some pretty impressive names like Diplo and Sinden.

Even though she’s only 17, Rye Rye put on a great showcase, showing effortless charisma and natural stage presence.

There’s also a pretty tasty rumour that a mixtape with M.I.A. is in the works before her debut L.P. drops. I’m keeping my eyes and ears open for that one.

I will be arriving about one month too late to see Paris Photo 08 this year and am consoling my broken heart by salivating over the online high-resolution preview of 200 works of one of the largest photography fairs in the world. The fact that Japan is this year’s guest of honour made my heart ache that little bit more.

The images are so arresting and inspiring that I’m getting an urge to duct tape my camera to my body and keep taking photos until I can take a shot that is one thousandth as beautiful as what’s seen in the slideshow. I’m always so amazed and in awe of artists who are able to evoke such powerful emotions and reactions from their audience. If only I could steal their talent, bottle it up and have it with a shot of vodka.

I wish I could have had the chance to see these prints up close, but I guess I’ll be in complete art overload once I’m in Europe anyway.

(Note: The photo above is an old scan of a touristy film shot I took during my last visit to Paris in 2004. It’s got me reminiscing of the days of life without a digital camera and being really really stingy with my film!)

I don’t really write about medical student life, preferring to keep it under wraps when there any many more insightful and enlighting blogs out there. I am flipping out, however, about the fact that if everything works out, I’m going to be part of the Life & Death Brigade pretty soon.

I got a bike for my birthday but haven’t been able to take it for a proper ride thanks to the long battle my white blood cells had declared on a dirty little respiratory infection.

I was excited about the Labour Day long weekend because I was feeling much better, but storms and rain thwarted my plans.

Luckily, Monday afternoon gave us a patch of beautiful weather and we headed out for a cycle around the Sydney Olympic grounds.

Of course I had to bring my camera. Here are a few pictures.
